Fort Collins residents can expect a flurry of detours this summer as the city embarks on an ambitious schedule of infrastructure improvements. According to the City of Fort Collins, major road and trail closures will commence in June and continue through July, affecting daily commutes and recreational activities.

The Power Trail is closing its path between Keenland Drive and East Trilby Road until August for the construction of the new Siphon Overpass. The intended overpass is set to facilitate connectivity to the Mail Creek Trail. "Use Keenland → Lemay Avenue → Southridge Greens," cites the City's detour recommendation, as per the City of Fort Collins. The exact date for reopening remains to be determined.

Adding to the congestion, Laporte Avenue will be inaccessible at Meldrum Street until August 1 due to sewer line replacement work. Travelers are advised to seek alternative routes, with westbound traffic redirected via Sherwood Street to Maple Street or Mountain Avenue and eastbound via Mason Street to Maple or Mountain. Meldrum Street itself will be off-limits between Mountain and Maple streets for utility work, aiming to reopen after September 1.

For those who frequent McClelland Drive, mark your calendars for June 15, when the road will face a complete closure between West Drake Road and West Horsetooth Road for street maintenance; College Avenue is provided as a detour. Moreover, Spring Creek Trail users will need to divert their route between June 16 and 20 as the trail undergoes a full closure for creek cleanup, with a detour along nearby paved paths and Prospect Road's south sidewalk.

Road work will also impact Timberline Road with southbound lanes closing from June 16 to 20 and northbound lanes following suit from June 23 to 27 for asphalt repairs. Local access will be available via Mulberry or Lincoln, using the northbound lane, notes the City announcement regarding the southbound closure. Further closures include east and westbound Laurel Street sections and Doctors Lane at Lemay due to various paving and construction activities.

Residents in the Trilby area are bracing for a significant disruption starting July 7, as Trilby Road will shut down at College/U.S. Highway 287 until Spring 2026 for a major intersection upgrade. Although traffic on College/U.S. Highway 287 will maintain two lanes in each direction, Trilby's connection will be blocked, with detour information provided for Ridgewood Hills neighborhood access and alternate east/west travel. The City has yet to announce the exact reopening date for Spring 2026.
