As the streets of Drexel Town Square gear up for the high octane Clocktower Classic on June 25, spectators can expect a thrilling day of cycling races as part of the Tour of America’s Dairyland. The free event features a variety of races, with a special focus on elite Pro Women’s and Pro Men’s competitions, as reported by the Town of Oak Creek’s official website. The races are set to take over the town center, transforming it into a fast-paced technical loop that challenges racers with sharp turns and long stretches ideal for strategic breakaways.
Getting to the square won't be as easy as pedaling down the street on race day, with several key roads closing at the crack of dawn. S. 6th Street, S. Market Street, S. Main Street, and W. Town Square Way will be off-limits to vehicles from 6 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., according to the City of Oak Creek. While parking around Drexel Town Square promises to be tight, alternatives include Woodman’s Food Market and additional street parking on W. Forest Hill Ave. and S. Liberty Lane. The savvy spectator might want to skip the parking hustle and hop on complimentary shuttles that run from the Oak Creek Community Center and Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District Building.
The event's organizers have even set up a Woodman’s Fan Zone where race coverage can be enjoyed on a big screen over local refreshments. Yet the community connection doesn't end at the finish line; the Community Hour invites everyone to explore the track on foot, engaging with demonstrations from local teams and groups.
There's a role for everyone who wishes to get involved, with positions ranging from Crosswalk Marshals to Teardown Crews. Volunteers, wearing the enthusiasm for the event on their sleeves, are promised free meals and refreshments, a humble thank-you for lending a hand to what is promised to be another memorable edition of the Clocktower Classic.
