Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp has recently made three key judicial appointments, as reported by his office on Monday. Elizabeth W. Torres is set to take the role of Solicitor General of Worth County, stepping into the vacancy left by Honorable James “Jay” E. Crowe, Jr., who now holds the position of State Court Judge in the same county. Further, Chaundra Lewis has been appointed to the Superior Court of the Flint Judicial Circuit, following the resignation of Honorable Brian J. Amero. The third appointment is that of James Boles, who will fill the State Court position in Henry County left open by Judge Chaundra Lewis's elevation.
Torres, a partner at Wilmot & Torres, has an extensive legal background that includes prosecutorial work as well as civil litigation in family law and probate court. Prior to this appointment, she also held the role of solicitor for the cities of Tifton and Lenox. Her educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law, where she was honored as the Richard B. Russell Distinguished Law Fellow. Information on these appointments was made available via an official announcement from the Governor's office.
Judge Chaundra Lewis will be transitioning from her current role as a Henry County State Court Judge to the Superior Court. Lewis has served the legal system in various capacities, including as a state court staff attorney and as a civil litigator and defense attorney. She is described as an avid community servant, a board member of Gigi’s House, and a volunteer with Miracle Mission International Outreach, Inc. Lewis is an alumna of Spelman College and the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphries School of Law, and she has committed herself to multiple leadership incubators within the state.
Completing the trio of appointees, James D. Boles, Jr., is a trial attorney and managing partner at Sexton & Moody, P.C. His past experience includes operating his own law practice and engaging in various legal aid activities. He is known to voluntarily coach the Stockbridge High School Mock Trial Team, exemplifying his commitment to the local community. Boles graduated with a political science degree from Kennesaw State University and earned his law degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, where he was actively involved on the Public Interest Law Society board and various other legal fraternities and teams. His dedication to the field and his community advocacy work undoubtedly contributed to his most recent appointment by Gov. Kemp.
