Texas Governor Greg Abbott has unveiled plans for a new leg in the statewide initiative to bolster small businesses. The Governor's Small Business Summit is set to convene in Hays County, specifically in the City of Kyle, on June 12. Rated as essential to the ecosystem of local economies, these summits serve as a meeting ground for small business owners and entrepreneurs seeking to tap into a spectrum of resources and expertise necessary for their businesses to grow and thrive.
"Small businesses are the cornerstone of our vibrant communities and the driving force behind Texas' thriving economy," Governor Abbott stated. This sentiment, sourced from a press release by the Office of the Texas Governor, underscores the administration's commitment to supporting the 3.3 million small businesses that employ nearly half of the state's workforce. Attendees are encouraged to network, partake in sessions covering topics like tech innovation and workforce strategies, and gain insights directly applicable to their business ventures.
Set within Stone Hall at Texas Old Town, the Hays County Summit's agenda includes sessions on balancing technological advancements with cyber security, adapting strategies for an evolving workforce, and unlocking marketing insights aimed at driving tangible outcomes. Adding to the day's value, Brian McCoy, Board Chairman of McCoy’s Building Supply, will deliver the keynote address.
Interested parties can register for a fee of $20, which covers full access to all the offerings of the summit, to include lunch and complimentary headshots. Registration details are available on the Texas governor's official events page. Beyond Hays County, the schedule for the Small Business Summit continues throughout 2025, reaching other locations across the state, designed to comprehensively support small business ventures originating from different locales and industries.
These events are a combined effort involving the Governor's Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, the Office of Small Business Assistance, and multiple regional chambers of commerce, including the Texas Workforce Commission. Beyond the in-person events, the Governor's office also facilitates webinars to assist small businesses, providing on-demand recordings online for entrepreneurs who prefer to gather information at their own pace.
