Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp and the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) Board have announced $26.5 million in funding for transportation projects across the state. According to the Governor’s official website, this marks a record allocation for the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB), supporting 13 infrastructure projects through loans and grants.

The funding includes $13.3 million directed toward projects in rural areas. Governor Kemp stated that these investments are expected to support long-term infrastructure development across Georgia.

Among the approved projects is the Mount Vernon Roadway Connectivity project, receiving $1.4 million, and the Cumberland CID, which will receive a $4.9 million loan for the Cumberland Sweep Segment C buildout. This project will add a shared-use path to improve transportation access for workers and residents in the Cumberland District.

Another example is the State Route 53 roundabout project in Barrow County. Supported by a $2.4 million loan and a $1 million grant from GTIB, the project aims to reduce traffic collisions and improve freight movement. The funding will accelerate the timeline by three years.

SRTA Executive Director Jannine Miller noted that 38% of GTIB applications this year came from rural areas. Since its creation in 2010, GTIB has awarded $242 million in funding, supporting infrastructure projects totaling over $1.2 billion in value.

These projects are carried out through partnerships between the state, local governments, and community improvement districts to enhance Georgia’s transportation systems.
