A Guatemalan national, 42-year-old Gustavo Gordillo, has entered a guilty plea to the charge of producing child pornography, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office. The affidavit, attached to a criminal complaint, states that in July 2020, investigators from the Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) were alerted after files containing child sexual abuse material were uploaded to a Google Photos account that was later linked to Gordillo.

Following an indictment by a federal Grand Jury on February 20, which included charges of production, transportation, distribution, and possession of child pornography, Gordillo was pegged by investigators as the individual who shared these illegal materials. The investigation, broadened by additional tips from Facebook, revealed that Gordillo was in communication with a child living out of state, to whom he provided and from whom he received child sexual abuse material. Gordillo, who was in the country on a temporary visa that had expired, was arrested on January 29 by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and OCPD at a residence in the Oklahoma City metro area.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, last Thursday, Gordillo entered a guilty plea for Count 1 of the Indictment. He admitted to using a child to engage in sexually explicit conduct with the purpose of producing child sexual abuse material. At his sentencing, Gordillo faces a minimum of 15 years and could serve up to 30 years in federal prison, alongside a possible fine of up to $250,000.
