Gwinnett County's Nicole Love Hendrickson has been reappointed as Chair of the Economic Development and Transportation Policy Committee for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), in a strategic move aimed at bolstering the region's long-term economic and infrastructural growth. This decision, announced by ACCG President and Dougherty County Commissioner Clinton Johnson, places Hendrickson once again at the helm of a critical committee tasked with shaping policies that bear on the development and transportation needs of counties throughout Georgia.
Hendrickson's leadership role signifies a continued commitment to collaborative efforts, that fosters progress throughout the district. In a statement obtained by Gwinnett County News, she expressed her enthusiasm about the impact of the committee's work: “I couldn’t be more excited about what this moment represents - not just for our County but for the people we serve every day. This is progress in action and it’s the result of collaboration, commitment and a deep belief in what’s possible when we work together. I’m proud to see our vision come to life in such a meaningful way."
The ACCG is a member-driven organization that relies on the active participation of its leaders to advocate for policies that support local governments. A critical aspect of the committee's role is to foster positions on key issues that later inform the ACCG's legislative advocacy. These policy positions, crafted through a consensus-based approach, become the guiding priorities for the association during legislative sessions.
According to ACCG Executive Director Dave Wills, advocacy is the engine of the organization, and leaders like Hendrickson are the ones ensuring it runs smoothly. He told Gwinnett County News, "Advocacy is a foundational aspect of our organization, and our policy committee leaders are essential to our efforts. ACCG prioritizes being a member-driven organization. Our Governmental Affairs staff is eager to collaborate with these new leaders to drive meaningful change on issues that matter to all Georgia counties.”
The Economic Development and Transportation Policy Committee works to support growth across Georgia by developing policies that boost the economy and improve transportation statewide. Hendrickson will help lead this effort alongside Vice Chair Jamie DeLoach, a commissioner from Effingham County.
