
The Kaʻohe Game Management Area on Hawaiʻi Island will be open for hunting season from July 3 through August 31. The area will be closed on August 27 and 28 for ungulate management operations. Hunters may use muzzleloaders and shotguns. The daily bag limit is four pigs per person, with no limit on sheep or goats. All hunters are required to wear blaze-orange clothing for safety, according to the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Hunters are reminded that the daily bag limit allows up to four pigs per person, regardless of sex. The Game Management Area will be temporarily closed for management work by the Division of Forestry and Wildlife. Hunters should check the closure dates, as entering the area during this time is not allowed and may result in legal consequences, as reported by the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
