Seeking to equip students and educators with materials for the upcoming school year, the Henry County Public Schools Foundation (HCPSF) is mobilizing the community with its 'Stuff the Bus' event scheduled for June 21. The initiative not only serves as a resource drive but also as part of the foundation's broader 'Give First' campaign to garner support and emphasize the importance of quality education within Henry County, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
The foundation's call is for new or unused school supplies, including art, cleaning materials, and classroom must-haves, alongside non-perishable snacks and bottled water, items that promise to alleviate some of the financial burdens educators face when prepping their learning environments. Dr. Maria A. Lumpkin, Foundation Director, echoed the sentiment by saying, "We are excited to see our community come out and support this event, which is a first for Henry County Schools," furthermore the Superintendent of Henry County Public Schools Dr. John Pace III lauded this as a chance to celebrate their partnering with residents, he said this in a statement obtained by Henry County Schools News.
Volunteers will be stationed at six designated sites across the county, including Hampton First Baptist Church and the Tanger Outlets among others, to collect donations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, echoing the foundation's ambitious step since establishing nearly half-a-million dollars in contributions, mirroring the community's commitment to the school system's future. The collected supplies will go to new teachers during the annual Orientation for New Educators (O.N.E.) event held in July, which prepares incoming staff and provides networking opportunities, integrating them into the district's educational framework and resources.
Moreover, the HCPSF extends invitations for financial assistance and in-kind gifts, such as gift cards, as well as various sponsorship levels ranging from a $1,000 'Friend of Henry Schools' to the 'Champion for Children' title sponsor at $25,000, each tier offering different benefits and opportunities to further impact the academic landscape in Henry County, these sponsorship opportunities were detailed in an announcement by Henry County Schools News. "I am thrilled to see the work of the Henry County Public Schools Foundation come to fruition," Board of Education Chair Sophe Pope proclaimed.
