A high pressure ridge north of the Hawaiian Islands will bring stable weather to Honolulu this week. Trade winds will be breezy at the start of the week, then weaken slightly from Tuesday through Friday. Showers will mostly occur along windward and mountain areas during the night and early morning. The National Weather Service says, "This mornings satellite imagery shows a few bands of unsettled clouds riding into the windward slopes of each island on the easterly trade winds." Inversion heights between 5,000 and 7,000 feet will limit cloud development and reduce the chance of widespread showers.
Trade winds will continue through Tuesday, then ease by mid-week. Light showers may occur early in the day at windward and mountain airfields. Moderate turbulence remains possible in some areas under AIRMET Tango. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 6 AM HST on Wednesday for waters around Maui, the Big Island, and nearby channels. South-facing shores will see higher surf from south swells, while east-facing shores will stay rough and choppy, according to the National Weather Service.
A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, Big Island Leeward Waters, and Big Island Southeast Waters. Boaters in these areas should be aware of potentially hazardous conditions. The weather forecast for Honolulu this week is stable, with generally calm conditions expected, as reported by the National Weather Service.
