
The Honolulu Fire Department held a promotion ceremony at the Mission Memorial Auditorium, where 49 members were promoted, including 47 uniformed personnel and 2 civilians. The event was attended by Mayor Rick Blangiardi, a member of the Honolulu Fire Commission, and supporters of the honorees. Fire Chief Sheldon K. Hao said, "Promotions are more than personal achievements, they are opportunities to strengthen our entire Department," and "These individuals have shown exceptional commitment, integrity, and professionalism," according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
The Honolulu Fire Department recognized civilian and uniformed staff for their roles and promotions. A Personnel Clerk I and a Fire Equipment Mechanic were acknowledged for their support work. Ten Fire Fighter IIs were promoted to specialized roles such as Hazardous Materials Technicians and tiller operators. Twenty Fire Fighter IIIs were assigned to operate fire apparatus, lead crews, and manage equipment. Seventeen Fire Captains will now supervise fire companies, handle training, fire prevention, and dispatch. "They will establish and maintain discipline and efficiency while directing the activities of FFs," the department stated.
The Honolulu Fire Department works to keep communities safe through prevention, preparedness, and emergency response. With over 1,000 employees across the City and County of Honolulu, the department continues to focus on training and promoting personnel. Recent promotions reflect individual progress and the department’s efforts to maintain operational readiness and public safety.
