U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Philadelphia completed the removal of Giyosiddin Ergashev, a citizen of Uzbekistan, returning him to his home country where he faces fraud charges. Details shared on ICE's website confirm his departure from the US soil on May 29.
ICE's path to Ergashev's apprehension began when the U.S. Border Patrol arrested him near San Luis, Arizona, on Valentine's Day, 2023, for bypassing a proper immigration checkpoint. After being detained at the Florence Service Processing Center, Ergashev was released on an order of recognizance on February 21. Issued by a court in Uzbekistan on November 29, 2023, the arrest warrant hanging over Ergashev's head later led to his capture in a targeted enforcement action on July 22, 2024, by ERO New York.
The subsequent transfer placed Ergashev in the hands of ERO Philadelphia, where his stay at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Philipsburg culminated with an immigration judge's order for his removal to Uzbekistan on February 18, as per ICE's website. This order set the stage for his ultimate transfer into the custody of Uzbek law enforcement.
As policy allows and encourages, ICE has offered a channel for public involvement. Individuals privy to crimes or any suspicious activities have been urged to contact the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or use an online tip form. Upon landing in Uzbekistan, Ergashev was handed over to the appropriate authorities, marking the end of his illicit American sojourn.
