A joint effort by fire departments and safety agencies resulted in the rescue of an individual pinned between rocks at Thornhill Broome Beach on Monday evening. First responders were called to the scene alongside Pacific Coast Highway at approximately 7:45 p.m., as per the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD). The rescue operation took place perilously close to the highway, with crews working diligently against both time and the crushing weight of the rock against the victim's limb.

According to KTLA, at least eight first responders were involved in the intense operation as onlookers from the PCH looked on. Notwithstanding, the individual had been trapped for an undisclosed duration, and no immediate reasons why the victim was on the potentially treacherous rocks were provided by officials. The scene was documented through images displaying the patient being secured on a stretcher, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the precision required to maneuver safely within the narrow shoreline.

The rescued individual's identity was not disclosed, but it was reported that their condition was stable when transported to a local trauma center. The VCFD's social media post noted that "using specialized extrication tools, firefighters were able to carefully free the patient," highlighting the meticulous approach taken during the challenging rescue operation.

Assistance in the rescue came from multiple agencies, including the Oxnard Fire Department, Federal Fire, Ventura CHP and California State Parks, whose efforts were publicly recognized. The agencies, thanked for their teamwork and expertise, lent their skills to the delicate procedure, which was performed by the VCFD as seen in a statement on their social media platform. "Thank you to all of our local agency partners for their teamwork, technical expertise and professionalism during this challenging rescue," read VCFD’s post from an update on the incident.
