A fatal officer-involved shooting in Southwest Oklahoma City has left a suspect dead and prompted an investigation by local authorities. According to KFOR, the incident escalated when officers responded to a domestic disturbance early this morning. As they approached the front door of a residence, the suspect, reportedly armed with a knife, charged at the officers. Amidst the confrontation, he was shot after refusing to drop the weapon, though News 4 has not viewed the body camera footage.
In an unfolding narrative of events, Oklahoma City Police have yet to release the name of the individual who died at the hospital following the altercation. KOCO reports that the episode may have originated from an attempted suicide call near SW 17th Street and Portland Avenue. Responders were alerted to a domestic dispute while en route, possibly reframing their mission upon arrival on the scene. The four officers involved in the shooting have since been placed on administrative leave.
Details surrounding the shooting remain sparse. OKC FOX has indicated that while the presence of a knife at the time of the confrontation seems likely, it is not unequivocally confirmed. Multiple individuals were at the residence during the incident, though their relationship to events has yet to be clarified.
