Iredell County Emergency Medical Services has once again been spotlighted for its exceptional service in the realm of emergency cardiac care, snagging the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold Achievement Award. The American Heart Association acknowledged the team's steadfast commitment to rapid and effective treatment for those in the throes of a severe heart attack or stroke. This accolade marks a continued tradition of excellence for the Iredell County EMS, which has been receiving this award annually since 2018.
Trained to initiate life-saving treatment at a moment's notice, Iredell County EMS personnel provide critical medical interventions onsite, potentially an hour sooner than if a patient were to travel to a hospital by private vehicle. Such prompt response is paramount in medical emergencies where treatment delays can have grave consequences. "This award is a direct reflection of the dedication, training, and professionalism of our EMS staff," Eric Morrison, Iredell County EMS Director, told Iredell County in a statement. "We're proud to serve our community with high-quality emergency care and proud to be recognized for the impact our work makes when seconds truly matter."
Under the Mission: Lifeline® EMS program, there's a concerted effort to optimize care for patients facing high-risk, time-sensitive conditions. This is accomplished by honing the entire treatment process, starting with the 911 call, proceeding through the transport and hospital admission, and extending to patient recovery.
