According to the Issaquah Police Department report, a stolen vehicle alert on May 25 led to an unusual apprehension. Officers were quick to the scene at a shopping center parking lot on East Lake Sammamish Parkway, where a vehicle theft was in progress. The driver absconded during a traffic stop, but not before an older male passenger, oddly exiting the moving vehicle, provided helpful information for the suspect's identification. The passenger's unique history with the suspect suggested a motive tied to targeting a local business.
In a separate incident on the same day, a near-miss between an intoxicated teenager and a night-shift sergeant almost made tragic headlines. While navigating traffic on 17th Ave NW, the 19-year-old’s BAC was found to be more than triple the legal limit before they were arrested and charged with a DUI. A few days later, a theft-in-progress call again challenged the Issaquah Police Department when officers detained two women involved in stealing over $325 worth of cosmetics on East Lake Sammamish Parkway.
The vehicle crime wave continued when police responded to reports of a blue truck involved in a vehicle break-in early in the morning on May 30. The operation crisply concluded with the intervention technique that left the impaired driver in custody, leaking the residue of marijuana and drunk misadventures into the Issaquah Jail. As if responding to a clandestine rhythm, another Issaquah officer's vigilance unveiled a drug-addled individual slumped over in a vehicle the very same morning. The discovery led to uncovering several active warrants from nearby precincts, resulting in the suspect being held on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle.
