
The Kaua‘i Fire Department has successfully contained and extinguished a brush fire near the bottom of Kokee Road in Kekaha, as reported on Thursday. The fire, which started shortly after 7:45 a.m., did not pose any immediate threat to nearby structures, and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The efforts to control the blaze included the collaboration of local fire stations, the Kaua‘i Police Department, and private landowners, as reported by the County of Kaua'i.
According to an update posted by the County of Kaua‘i, the size of the fire was not specified at the time it was brought under control. Resources mobilized to tackle the fire consisted of crews from the Waimea and Hanapepe fire stations, Rescue 3, tanker 1, the on-duty Battalion Chief, and representatives from the Kaua‘i Police Department. The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency and the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative also kept a watchful eye on the progress.
Kokee Road, which had been closed due to the firefighting efforts, was reopened from Kekaha Road to the Waimea Canyon drive junction. This move restored access to the area, easing potential disruptions caused by the road's closure, as per the County of Kaua'i.
