The clock is ticking for event organizers in Kirkland, with the city's Tourism Development Committee (TDC) announcing the opening of their 2026 Explore Kirkland tourism grant application process. According to the City of Kirkland's official statement, applicants have until July 21st to put forward their ideas that might just shape Kirkland’s event scene.
City Councilmember Jon Pascal points to the potential of local creativity in igniting the area's tourism, stating, “Your idea could be Kirkland’s next signature event.” The grants are designed for special events and festivals with the proven ability to bring in visitors from beyond 50 miles and encourage overnight stays. The funding pool, derived from the city’s lodging tax, is about $60,000 for the upcoming year—an investment in the communal experience of a vibrant Kirkland.
The TDC is on a mission to craft a safe and inclusive atmosphere through their sponsorship. They're backing programs that not only promote local treasures but also forge a welcoming community spirit. Having previously lent support to the Junior Softball World Series and Kirkland Summerfest, among other events, the TDC's track record speaks to their commitment to energizing the city's social calendar with diverse happenings.
Interested parties are guided to visit Kirkland's Tourism Funding webpage for grant criteria details and to access the online application form. Applicants should note the firm submission deadline of 12 p.m. on July 21. For further inquiries, the TDC’s tourism staff is reachable via email at [email protected].
