A fire that erupted in a Chesterfield Square fourplex was swiftly controlled by Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) personnel yesterday afternoon. According to an LAFD alert, smoke was spotted coming from the second floor of the building located at 1860 W 68th St, prompting a response from the fire services at approximately 3:14 PM.
Firefighters encountered the blaze within a closet on the second floor, managing to extinguish the fire in an expedited 13 minutes, with no fire extension to the attic or surrounding walls noted, one patient was assessed on the scene by paramedics and subsequently released which evidences the efficiency and precision of the responding teams in containing potential threats. All occupants were confirmed to have evacuated the structure safely during the incident.
The LAFD has reported that no additional injuries occurred as a result of the fire and have commended the fast action of their crews in preventing further damage to the property and potential harm to residents. The companies remained on the scene after dousing the flames to conduct the necessary overhaul of the affected area to ensure no hidden embers remained that could reignite and cause renewed hazard.
