Lake County has a new captain at the helm of its sheriff's office road patrol division. In a ceremony marked by both tradition and aspiration, Lt. Bryan Bowen was elevated to the role of commander, embracing a position steeped with responsibility. A social media post from Sheriff Frank Leonbruno celebrated the occasion, noting Bowen's deep roots in the community he now serves at a higher rank. "Capt. Bryan Bowen is a life-long resident of Lake County and currently resides in Mentor with his wife and two children," the sheriff proudly shared in a post on the Lake County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Frank Leonbruno's official Facebook page.
Bowen's ascent is not one marked by sudden leaps but rather a steady climb through the ranks after a solid educational grounding, starting from his time at Mentor High School, and continuing at Kent State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Studies. The sheriff's office noted that Bowen's career with them began in August 2014, starting as a deputy on the Road Patrol, before advancing through positions as Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. Although focused on the road patrol division, his policing expertise spans multiple areas, notably in court services, where he led the division starting in September 2022.
Recognized for his leadership abilities, Bowen adds a number of accolades to his professional portfolio. He is praised as an Entry Team Leader of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Regional SWAT Team, a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College (PELC), and an FBI-LEEDA-Trilogy recipient. Looking ahead, Bowen is also positioned to attend the FBI National Academy to refine further his leadership skills, a testament to his ongoing commitment to law enforcement excellence.
In his new capacity, Bowen's trajectory promises continuity and growth for the road patrol division. Rounding out his extensive law enforcement background, he has also been a member of the Marine Patrol. In the words of Sheriff Leonbruno, "We welcome Capt. Bowen to his new leadership role and look for great things in his future!" According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Frank Leonbruno's official Facebook page. The sentiment is a beacon of faith in Bowen's capacity to pave the way for the department's evolution, as his own career unfolds within its ranks.
