A recent traffic incident has added a grim tally to this year's fatalities on Las Vegas roads, bringing the count to 71. The unfortunate event unfolded on May 27, 2025, when two vehicles collided at the West Lake Mead Boulevard and North Jones Boulevard intersection. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash involved a 2022 Ford F-150 and a 2013 Ford Fiesta, resulting in the death of a 74-year-old male Fiesta driver named Gary Pino.
While patrolling eastbound on West Lake Mead Boulevard, the Ford pickup, driven by 30-year-old Ricardo Reyes, hit the Fiesta after failing to stop at a red light. Despite the arrival of medical personnel who transported Pino with serious injuries to the University Medical Center, his battle ended on June 2, succumbing to his wounds. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's investigation indicated that the driver of the Ford F-150 showed signs of being impaired at the crash scene and faced subsequent arrest on DUI-related charges.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is still looking into the deadly crash. The driver who died, Pino, was a Las Vegas resident. He was heading south on North Jones Boulevard when the collision happened. The Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death and is helping with the investigation. Reyes, who had only minor injuries from the crash, now faces possible legal consequences. This marks the 71st traffic-related death in Las Vegas for 2025.
