Lincoln County Emergency Services is set to bring a seasoned veteran to lead their 911 Communications Center. Carol Mecimore has been appointed as the new 911 Communications Manager, with her role officially beginning next Saturday, as reported by Lincoln County's official announcement. Mecimore enters the position backed by over three decades of experience in public safety and emergency services. Her extensive resume includes roles as a volunteer firefighter, paramedic, and, most recently, as Lincoln County's EMS training specialist.
Tasked with the oversight of the 911 Communications Center, Mecimore will manage emergency and non-emergency call operations, ensuring efficient service linking citizens with law enforcement, EMS, fire departments, and other critical responders. She steps into this challenging role to quickly leverage her robust service-oriented background, bringing together a team of telecommunicators and administrative staff. Mecimore is also expected to actively harness the potential of a new computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, decidedly aiming to bolster technological capabilities within the center.
Since her foray into public safety in 1993 as a volunteer firefighter, Mecimore's career trajectory has been marked by a commitment to continued education and interagency collaboration. She sharpened her skills significantly after receiving her paramedic certification in 1995 and joining Lincoln County EMS in 2001, where she progressed through several supervisory positions. Her role as the County's EMS training specialist allowed her to perfect the art of managing special event coverage and acting as a liaison to various special teams, as stated on Lincoln County's news release.
With her appointment as the 911 Communications Manager, Mecimore is set to also focus on recruiting and retaining high-performing telecommunicators. Her past endeavors demonstrate a knack for nurturing teams and executing strategic vision—capabilities she is now expected to dynamically bring to bear on her new position. Her educational background includes an associate degree from Catawba Valley Community College, and she actively lends her expertise as an instructor at Gaston and Catawba Valley Community Colleges. Her anticipated contribution is positioned to shape the future of Lincoln County's 911 Communication Center's services.
