Yesterday afternoon, a structure fire was reported at a Beverly Grove commercial building known as a massage spa, located at 8217 W Beverly Bl, with the Los Angeles Fire Department swiftly responding to the emergency. According to a LAFD alert, smoke was seen billowing from the one-story building, prompting firefighters to assume an offensive mode and call for additional support. The fire prompted the dispatch of Task Force 27, among other units, to address the situation under Incident Command number 1221.
The blaze, which began around 4:13 PM, gained momentum with flames lapping out from the first-story window, reaching up to the second floor at the rear of the building; the structure turned out to be a split-level, one story at the front and two stories at the rear. As the firefighters arrived, they were able to prevent the fire from extending to the 2nd floor or the attic via a transitional attack, applying water from the outside to knock back flames while preparation for an interior attack ensued. While no other occupants were discovered inside, one individual was being evaluated for what were described as minor burn injuries, which stands as a testament to the quick response of the LAFD and their tactical efficiency in managing such unforeseen crises.
At approximately 4:33 PM, a mere 20 minutes after their arrival, a total of 46 firefighters achieved knockdown of the fire. The details of the response, provided within a follow-up LAFD alert, affirm the swiftness and effectiveness of the LAFD's approach, where "firefighters conducted a transitional attack (applying water from the outside) to quickly knock back some of the fire while crews readied for an interior fire attack."
