
The Baker County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting incident that took place last night, which resulted in multiple injuries. The event occurred near the intersection of South Boulevard and 9th Street in Macclenny, as reported by News4Jax. Details regarding the conditions of the two individuals hospitalized with gunshot wounds remain undisclosed.
According to First Coast News, Undersheriff Randy Crews confirmed that the victims include one minor and one adult, with one victim shot in the leg and the other in a life-threatening condition, in the event believed to involve multiple shooters and various weapons two individuals have been detained and two others are currently sought for questioning. Statements obtained by local residents reveal a sense of alarm and dismay, as longtime inhabitant Brian Wallstedt expressed his concern over the increasing violence, urging the community to "Quit this crap," and to seek resolution without resorting to gun violence.
While the sheriff's office withheld specific details, they did confirm that the area around the shooting scene at South Boulevard and 9th Street was closed for several hours as law enforcement, alongside the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), conducted their investigation; this information comes according to a WOKV report.
