On June 1, Titarius Lyons, a 33-year-old man, was arrested by deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office (SJSO) in connection with a violent attack that occurred on May 24. According to the SJSO's social media post, Lyons is accused of using a baton and a knife to inflict great bodily harm on the victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds. Deputies were able to locate and apprehend Lyons at an apartment complex in St. Augustine, where he was reportedly attempting to evade capture.
The incident, which took place on May 24, was brought to an abrupt end when a bystander intervened, allowing the victim to receive emergency medical attention for the traumatic injuries sustained. Lyons was already out on bond for earlier charges, including domestic violence and criminal mischief, dating back to April of the same year. Identified as a prison release reoffender, the suspect had been released from custody just a few months earlier, in January 2025, after serving a sentence for armed robbery and violation of probation.
Following the May incident, SJSO deputies connected with the wounded victim at the hospital, triggering an immediate investigation into the attack that resulted in Lyons' arrest. As reported by the SJSO, the combined effort of witness intervention and swift law enforcement response played a crucial role in both providing care for the victim and in the apprehension of Lyons.
