Over the weekend, a man was arrested after he was reported to be carrying an unlicensed firearm near a "No Kings" rally in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred on Saturday during a series of protests in the Philadelphia region against President Trump's deportation policies and coincided with a military parade in D.C. According to NBC10, the crowd at the rally spotted the armed man and notified officers from the West Chester Police Department who were monitoring the event.
West Chester resident Tommy Donnelly expressed his concern to NBC10, "It’s scary to see that kind of thing here, especially in this kind of area." Police found several magazine clips on the man after stopping him for a search. A video that surfaced online shows the man, wearing a bright yellow jacket, surrounded by at least five police officers as they searched his pockets.
In a separate report by 6ABC, the individual, a 32-year-old man from Malvern, did not have a registered concealed carry permit for the firearm he was concealing. As one of the rally attendees, Anna Oehrlein from Coatesville remarked, "Why do you have to do that during a peaceful protest?" The quick response from the police earned praise from Chelsea Kendall of Downingtown: "I think the cops did a really nice job."
No injuries were reported during the arrest. Authorities are asking anyone with additional information regarding the incident to call the West Chester Borough Police Department at 610-696-2700, 6ABC stated.
