The Marysville Police Department has recently made headlines with a "proactive" arrest stemming from an equipment violation traffic stop. In an official post on their Facebook page, the department detailed the sequence of the event which led to discovering a substantial amount of methamphetamine and related drug paraphernalia in the possession of a vehicle passenger last week. According to the social media update from the department, this traffic stop not only resulted in apprehending a wanted individual but also possibly disrupted the operations of narcotics distribution within the community.

The police's intervention began as a result of what many would consider to be a routine traffic stop. However, the actions taken by the Graveyard Shift yielded a result that far exceeded the original scope of an equipment violation. An initial check during the traffic stop revealed that the passenger had an outstanding arrest warrant. The officers went on to conduct a search on the passenger which revealed him to casually be carrying over two ounces of methamphetamine and a "significant amount of cash" secreted away in his pants pockets.

Continuing their search, authorities found additional incriminating items in the vehicle. The items included "narcotics paraphernalia, a digital scale, and packaging materials—all consistent with the sale and distribution of narcotics," according to the police department's report. It's these sorts of details that often suggest, to law enforcement and the public alike, that the illicit substances were not intended solely for personal use.
