Members of the Maui community are waking to troubling news as the Maui Police Department has confirmed an act of violence that took place earlier last week near a popular local harbor. According to a social media post by the department, two men were viciously attacked in the early hours of June 14 by a group of males near Slip 22 at the Maalaea Boat Harbor on Maui.
The victims, a 24-year-old from Kihei and a 62-year-old from Lahaina, were subjected to a brutal beating, sustaining punches and kicks to their heads and bodies, and while one refused medical attention at the scene, the suspects, described as possibly of Caucasian and Polynesian descent, remain unidentified, and investigators are making an appeal to the public for any leads.
