The National Weather Service in Memphis has provided an update on the weather conditions for the coming days. As of 4:54 am CDT today, the weather registers as mostly cloudy with a humidity level of 91%. According to the NWS forecast, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms later today, particularly between 2 pm and 3 pm, with the likelihood of precipitation being around 20%. The wind is expected to come from the south southwest at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts that could reach as high as 25 mph.
As the night falls on Memphis, the likelihood of rainfall increases substantially. A 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms is anticipated, mainly after 1am, with new rainfall amounting to between half and three-quarters of an inch possible. These conditions come ahead of Juneteenth, where the forecast predicts still a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 pm. After some cloudy skies in the mid-morning, gradual clearing with a high near 89 is expected.
The forecast for the remainder of the week and into the weekend indicates a return to sunny skies. Thursday night should be mostly clear with a low around 72, and by Friday, the weather is expected to be sunny with a high approaching 93 degrees. These clear skies are set to continue into the weekend with highs climbing into the mid-90s, as detailed by the NWS.
Looking forward to the start of next week, there is a projected 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Monday. Despite this slight chance, sunny skies with a high near 95 are still anticipated. Into the night, the weather should remain mostly clear, with low temperatures hovering around 75. The following Tuesday, there is a slightly higher chance of rain at 30 percent as thunderstorms potentially return, but the sun is likely to persist with highs again nearing 94 degrees.
