The Atlanta community breathed a collected sigh of relief upon hearing that 11-year-old G’ingua Benson-Oneal, who went missing last Friday, has been found safe. The Atlanta Police Department confirmed that the child was located, however, they have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of her discovery.
G’ingua was reported missing after she was last seen on foot near her home at 318 Simpson Terrace NW last Friday around 3 p.m. At the time of her disappearance, according to FOX 5 Atlanta, she was wearing a short-sleeved black shirt, tan (khaki) sweatpants, and white-and-black Nike sneakers. The report also stated that officers responded to the missing juvenile case at approximately 4:01 p.m. the same afternoon.
As soon as G’ingua was reported missing, the Atlanta police classified the case as "critical," indicating a high level of concern for her welfare. Standing 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighing around 144 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, she was described in detail in hopes of a member of the public identifying her. This information was widely disseminated in the effort to find her as quickly as possible, as documented by Atlanta News First.
G’ingua's mother reportedly had no idea where her daughter might have gone, and there was no note left behind. The young girl also did not take any trackable devices with her, complicating the efforts to find her. Thankfully, the diligent work of the Special Victims Unit and tips from the public aided in bringing a positive resolution to this ordeal. The police have encouraged anyone with further information to continue to reach out to the Special Victims Unit at (404) 546-4260, or Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS (8477).
