In a series of distressing incidents, emergency crews were called to the scene of multiple crashes involving automobiles and trains across Oklahoma City. In the early hours of Monday morning, a collision occurred in northwest Oklahoma City at the intersection of NW 121st Street and Santa Fe Avenue, as reported by KOCO. The Oklahoma City Police Department stated that the driver of the car had her foot off the brake at the train crossing, which caused the vehicle to roll into the train, subsequently tearing off the front bumper. The driver, fortunately, did not sustain injuries.
Concurrently, another incident was documented by News 9. In northeast Oklahoma City, near northeast 122nd Street and North Santa Fe Avenue, a driver is believed to have involuntarily fallen asleep with their vehicle stationed at the train crossing. The car drifted into the train cars passing by, resulting in front-end damage. The driver, in a near miraculous manner, escaped the incident unharmed.
Additionally, Sunday afternoon witnessed a more severe crash involving a train and three other vehicles in northwest Oklahoma City, as News On 6 detailed. The collision, occurring near NW 122nd St. and Santa Fe Ave., began when one driver attempted to circumvent the crossing barriers and was struck by the train. The collision caused the car to spin and collide with two other vehicles. While the driver responsible for the barrier breach sustained minor injuries and was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence, two passengers in the stricken car required transportation to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Other involved parties were not injured.
