Landlords in New Orleans with one-to-three-unit rental properties in Orleans Parish must apply for the Healthy Homes Certificate of Compliance by June 15. This deadline marks the end of the phased rollout of the city’s Healthy Homes Ordinance, which requires rentals to meet health and safety standards, according to the City of New Orleans.
The City of New Orleans is offering a streamlined application process for property owners through the OneStopApp. Those who prefer in-person help can visit the government office on Poydras Street, open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In-person and phone assistance will end on June 13, since the application deadline is June 15. Applications received after June 15 will incur a $50 late fee. After the deadline, the city will focus on enforcing rental property safety and health regulations.
In New Orleans, all rental properties in the parish must be registered by the deadline. After June 15, the Healthy Homes Administration will shift from registration to enforcement. Landlords who have registered will be monitored to ensure their properties comply with health and safety standards, as reported by the City of New Orleans.
