In response to growing concerns around public safety in emergencies, the North Texas Crime Commission's Law Enforcement Training Committee, together with the Mesquite Police Department, is offering a free training session aimed at empowering civilians with the knowledge of how to act during an active shooter event. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training, scheduled for Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, is designed to provide attendees with actionable strategies for protecting themselves and others.
The program, which derives its curriculum from the "Avoid, Deny, Defend" strategy, will be held at 757 N. Galloway Avenue, Mesquite, Texas, in Training Rooms A&B. It is a community initiative to gradually teach individuals to better prepare for the unthinkable. The first 75 people to sign up will be afforded the chance to attend this session, as reported by the Mesquite Police Department's social media post.
Individuals interested in attending this crucial training can register through a link shared by the Mesquite Police Department. Further details about CRASE and the associated methods can be obtained by visiting the Avoid, Deny, Defend website, a resource provided to enhance public understanding and preparedness.
