
A troubling assault in Brooklyn's 66th Precinct has led NYPD Crimestoppers to issue an alert for a suspect wanted in connection with the violent incident which occurred last weekend. According to police reports, on Saturday, around 1:00 a.m., a 31-year-old woman found herself followed by an unknown man, prompting her to seek help from nearby strangers as she traveled along Coney Island Avenue and Cortelyou Road.
The woman approached two men, ages 26 and 29, explaining that she was being chased and feared for her safety. In a moment of shared humanity, they obliged to escort her home securely. Shortly afterward, an alert on a phone application warned them of another potential victim in close proximity, leading to the good Samaritans to quickly seek to assist the additional female. It was then the suspect aggressively approached the group. According to a social media post made by NYPD Crimestoppers, "the unknown male then stabbed the 26-year-old male victim multiple times in the chest and shoulder and slashed the 29-year-old male victim one time above the eye with a knife."
The attack has heightened concern among residents in the area, with the Crimestoppers post seeking public assistance to help identify and locate the assailant. NYPD has requested that anyone with information directly message @nypdtips or call the confidential hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The seriousness of the incident has catalyzed community engagement, with many sharing the post to rapidly spread the word in the hopes of ensuring further safety and potentially aiding the police.
