David P. Greulich, a 61-year-old man from Cleveland, Ohio, has been given a 30-year prison sentence after he admitted to sexually exploiting a 14-year-old girl from Jefferson County, New York, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. U.S. District Judge David A. Ruiz handed down the sentence following Greulich's guilty plea in March to several charges, including child exploitation and possession of child sexual abuse materials.
Details from the court documents highlighted by the U.S. Attorney's Office indicate that Greulich initiated contact with the victim in February 2024 via Snapchat, subsequently driving over 400 miles to meet her on April 20, 2024, a journey he repeated on May 11, when he continued to engage in illicit sexual conduct including recording his crimes against the girl, and he was not only involved in the physical abuse but also documented the illicit encounters on a digital device, which was eventually uncovered during a federal search warrant of his home.
Federal agents, during the execution of a search warrant at Greulich's Cleveland residence, seized multiple devices containing illicit material, including a cellphone with over 100 images of the minor, and they also found 14 sexually explicit videos of the victim in his personal cloud storage account according to the press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office. Greulich's capture and prosecution were the results of collaborative efforts by the Homeland Security Investigations Cleveland Office, the Jefferson County (New York) Sheriff’s Office, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The report further mentions that, aside from jail time, Greulich will have a lifetime of supervised release after his prison term and has been ordered to pay $35,000 in special assessments, with the amount of restitution to the victim still pending, this case was brought forth partly by Assistant United States Attorneys Margaret A.
