Earlier this morning, a shooting on Interstate 85 near the Mecklenburg-Gaston County line resulted in one person being transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. As reported by QC News, the incident occurred near a weigh station on I-85 southbound between Moores Chapel Road and the Catawba River, outside of Charlotte.
The Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic) stated that the victim was taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center for treatment. WCNC adds that despite the early morning violence, the flow of traffic was maintained with no immediate road closures, though drivers might have experienced some congestion due to the police investigation on the scene.
While the police work to quickly piece together the events that unfolded, the community awaits answers. WBTV notes that the shooting took place around 7:30 a.m., emphasizing that the rush to get definitive information out to the public remains a high priority.
