A routine cooking incident escalated into a residential blaze in San José, disrupting the tranquility of a neighborhood and displacing three residents. The San José Fire Department reported that firefighters responded to a second-alarm fire on the 3300 block of Onslow Way, initially sparked by an outdoor cooking fire with a propane issue that quickly spread to a home, including the garage and attic.

The call came in to the department at 12:10 pm, and the fire was successfully knocked down by 12:45 pm. Despite the rapid response, the fire had time enough to also reach an adjacent home, although damage there was confined to the external eaves. There were no injuries reported in the incident. Following the efforts of the firefighters, the fire was brought under control and the residents of the neighboring house were allowed to safely return to their home.

Efforts to aid those affected are already underway. The SJFD's update included information that the Red Cross has been contacted to assist the three adults who were displaced from the primary home affected by the fire.
