A routine traffic stop in Ozaukee County escalated into a significant drug bust, with local deputies seizing over 80 grams of methamphetamine and making two felony arrests. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office revealed details of the arrest on their social media, praising the contributions of their K9 unit in the drug enforcement effort.
Deputies initiated the stop for what they described as an equipment violation, during which they developed reasonable suspicion. This suspicion triggered the involvement of K9 Odin, who signaled the presence of illegal substances, granting deputies cause to search the vehicle. Found inside the glove box, a lock box with two bags of methamphetamine weighed in at a total of 82.2 grams—with a meth pipe, scale, and baggies also discovered, strongly suggesting intentions of drug distribution.
The individuals involved now face serious charges. The driver was detained for "Possession with Intent to Deliver – Methamphetamine (Party to a Crime)" and "Felony Bail Jumping," with a bond set at $25,000. The account of the passenger's arrest included charges for "Possession with Intent to Deliver – Methamphetamine," "Possession of Methamphetamine Paraphernalia," and "8 counts of Felony Bail Jumping," which resulted in a $50,000 bond, as per the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office applauded the stop's outcome, regarding it as a "great example of how proactive policing and K9 support help keep dangerous drugs off our streets."
