
A somber scene unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning, as a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in a DUI-related crash in the central Las Vegas valley. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. near Redwood Street, just north of West Flamingo Road, 8 News Now reports.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detailed that, the victim was found lying in the road at the time of the collision. A 2008 Infiniti G35 which was journeying west on Flamingo turned onto Redwood Street and collided with the pedestrian, according to News 3 LV. The driver of the Infiniti did not flee the scene and was taken into custody facing DUI-related charges following the crash.
Emergency services were quick to respond, transporting the injured individual to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit. Unfortunately, the pedestrian’s injuries proved fatal, and they were pronounced dead by the hospital's trauma staff upon arrival. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of their next of kin, as stated by News 3 LV. The sobering incident raises the death toll to 73 traffic-related fatalities within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for the year 2025.
