A Torrance man, formerly employed as a receptionist at a children's dance studio in Hermosa Beach, is now facing serious criminal charges after being accused of planting hidden cameras inside the studio's bathroom and changing room. Jourdyn Godoy, 25, was charged with felony possession of child pornography and misdemeanor counts of child annoyance and invasion of privacy, as detailed in a news release from the office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. In a statement that captured the gravity of the allegations, District Attorney Hochman stressed the severity of the crime, saying, "To invade a child's privacy in a place where they should feel completely safe is a grotesque violation of trust, safety, and basic human decency." After a parent discovered a camera in the Hermosa School of Dance and Music's changing room on May 3, the investigation by police led to the recovery of more hidden cameras and resulted in Godoy's arrest. The investigation was thoroughly conducted by the Hermosa Beach Police Department and is now being prosecuted by the Cyber Crime Division, with Godoy's arraignment scheduled at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, as reported by KTLA.
Charged last June 17, Godoy's bail was requested to be set at $55,000 by the district attorney's office. Nevertheless, jail records indicate that the bail is currently set at $100,000.
