As the city gears up for the “No Kings Protest” this weekend, officials have outlined a framework of road closures and parking restrictions to accommodate the expected turnout. The demonstration, organized by Indivisible Philadelphia, is set to commence on Saturday and will result in significant rerouting of normal traffic patterns. According to details released on the City's official website, the march will start between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., with participants gathering as early as 10 a.m. in several locations, including Love Park and along portions of Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Arch Street.
Officials have advised residents and visitors to plan for travel disruptions as streets begin closing around the march's starting point. The procession will travel westbound on Benjamin Franklin Parkway toward the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where a rally is anticipated from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Given the size of the crowd expected to participate, adjacent, and nearby roads may also be closed to ensure public safety, which will likely result in additional detours.
With the aim of mitigating congestion, the City is encouraging the use of alternative transportation methods. Options include the Market-Frankford Line, Broad Street Line, and Regional Rail to circumvent the road closures. Motorists who are not attending the event are especially advised to seek alternate routes.
For those who must travel by car, preparations for delays and detours should be a priority. The specific details of the road closures and parking restrictions are made available in the City's announcement.
