Philadelphia police are on the lookout for a suspect involved in a brazen daylight robbery at a local business, an incident that has shaken the 15th District community. According to a press release published by the Philadelphia Police Department, the robbery unfolded on Sunday around 2:11 p.m. on the 6400 block of Harbison Avenue.
The individual, masquerading as a law enforcement officer, intimidated a 50-year-old woman by restraining her with zip-ties and proceeded to abscond with approximately $1,000. The suspect was last seen escaping in a white Ford E-250 van, heading north on Harbison Avenue towards Roosevelt Boulevard. The van had tinted windows, no windows in the back, a padlock on the rear and passenger side cargo doors, and red dashes on its midline. Despite a swift response from officers arriving on the scene at 4:43 p.m., the perpetrator was already gone, marking a worrying trend of brazen midday crimes in the area.
Authorities have detailed a description of the suspect: a white male who donned a black baseball cap with a US flag emblem, black sunglasses, a black long-sleeved shirt, gloves, and a black tactical vest with “Security Enforcement Agent” emblazoned across it, paired with dark green cargo pants. The Philadelphia Police are urging anyone with information to step forward.
