Philadelphia's streets were the scene of a disturbing crime, as police continue to seek the public's assistance in apprehending those responsible for an aggravated assault in West Philadelphia. On June 1st, around 1:30 PM, a woman suffered serious injuries when an unidentified chemical was hurled at her on the unit block of South 51st Street, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. The attack resulted in severe burns on her face and body, necessitating urgent medical care.
The victim recounted her ordeal to the responding officers, and following the incident, the suspects were seen boarding the SEPTA train at 52nd Street and alighting at 60th Street. Surveillance footage obtained from the surrounding area, which includes material from SEPTA, unfortunately, does not capture the moment of the assault. However, the video does feature three juvenile males whom the police believe may have critical information regarding the crime.
Authorities are urging anyone who can identify these individuals or who has knowledge of the assault to come forward. The Philadelphia Police Department emphasizes the importance of community involvement in bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of all residents. Any piece of information, no matter how seemingly trivial, can be vital in an investigation of this nature.
In a public statement, the Philadelphia Police detailed that "the victim was taken to the hospital for further treatment." The department has also released a video in the hope that eyewitnesses will step forward and provide additional details. Those with pertinent information can view the video and contact the police through their official website.
