In an ongoing effort to combat the effects of drug abuse on children, Pigeon Forge Police Department is immersing its officers in specialized training throughout the month. The Drug Endangered Children course, designed to equip law enforcement with the tools to assist children in drug-compromised environments, is currently being undertaken by 49 of the department's finest, as announced in a recent social media post from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Through a strategic partnership with the Tennessee Alliance for Drug Endangered Children, Sevier County CARES, and the Sevier County Office of Alcohol and Drug Programs, this initiative underscores a collaborative response to a persistent community challenge.

Officers in this program will learn to identify signs of children at risk due to drug environments and deploy essential interventions that could reshape their trajectories. Engaging in practical, "brain building" exercises, they'll gain an understanding of the enduring impacts that childhood trauma inflicts, making early, positive intervention not just a duty but, a moral imperative for those sworn to serve and protect. The social media post from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation emphasized the message: "Remember: EVERYONE has the ability to positively impact a child!"
