Port Charlotte residents looking to borrow a new novel or dive into historical archives this weekend will need to adjust their plans. The Port Charlotte Public Library, a fixture on Aaron Street, is temporarily shutting its doors this friday and saturday. The cause: a necessary pause for plumbing maintenance. According to the county's announcement, the brief closure will help address infrastructure needs that are essential for keeping the library operational and accessible in the long run.
Despite the Port Charlotte Public library's temporary closure, the “What’s Cooking?” program will proceed as scheduled this Saturday at 11 a.m. The event will take place at the Family Services Center, its original alternative location. The change ensures continuity for participants and demonstrates the use of community spaces for ongoing local programs.
The library will temporarily close for maintenance, a routine part of facility upkeep. Staff plan to reopen the building promptly once work is complete, continuing to provide services for students, readers, and other patrons.
The Port Charlotte Public Library has announced that no fines will be issued for materials due during its temporary closure. Patrons are encouraged to visit other libraries within the county if needed. The library is expected to reopen shortly following scheduled maintenance.
