The National Weather Service in Portland, Oregon, has predicted a week filled with dynamic weather conditions, with residents expected to experience everything from showers and thunderstorms to sunny skies and rising temperatures. According to the latest forecast provided by the NWS, overcast conditions currently lock down the city under a cool 55°F with humidity at 66 percent.
Today's weather is expected to bring "Showers and possibly a thunderstorm" with a high reaching near 62 and winds from the south southwest at 3 to 8 mph. "Chance of precipitation is 90%," states the NWS, warning of new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, and possibly higher in thunderstorms. The evening continues with an 80% chance of precipitation, as showers and storms roll through before 4 am, followed by chances of after-shower. Temperatures will hover around a low of 50 degrees.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday promises to be soaked, with "Showers" and "100% chance of precipitation," the NWS advises. The forecast continues, "New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible." Gusts could hit as high as 20 mph in what is to shape up as a gloomy day peaking at 58 degrees. By Saturday night, the showers are predicted to taper off, but the possibility of rainfall persists with a 60% chance before 11 pm.
Sunday suggests a reprieve; after a mostly cloudy start, "gradually becoming sunny" is the outlook, with a high near an inviting 72. This trend towards nicer weather carries into the week with mostly clear conditions Sunday night and a low around 53. By Monday, Portlanders can expect "Mostly sunny" skies with the mercury climbing to a comfortable 82 degrees, presenting a stark contrast to the damp beginnings of the weekend.
As the workweek rolls in, the forecast by the NWS further brightens with "Sunny" on Tuesday and a high nearing a summer-like 87 degrees, with the evenings partially clouded and lows hovering in the upper 50s. Midweek maintains "Mostly sunny" conditions, with highs settling in the low 80s, suggesting that any lingering clouds from the weekend's storms would have made their swift escape.
