The National Weather Service in Portland, Oregon, delivered an optimistic forecast for the week, announcing that residents can expect a stretch of sunny skies and steadily rising temperatures. Today is set for mostly sunny conditions with highs reaching a comfortable 85 degrees, calm winds picking up slightly by the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
The city is predicted to remain mostly clear as nighttime approaches, granting a cool low of around 54. Those north-northwest winds will slow back down, merging into the night's calm. Forecasters at NWS promise an even warmer weekend, with Saturday hitting a high near 88 and Sunday's mercury climbing towards a scorching 96 degrees. The calm winds from the north-northwest will provide little respite in the afternoon's heat.
Looking ahead, the start of the week will not provide much reprieve from the sun. Monday's scenario is another sunny day, hitting a peak at 94 degrees, but by nighttime, the clear sky is expected to give way to some clouds with a low settling around 58 degrees. Portland's weather seems to be curtailing its enthusiasm for the heat, though, as the NWS predicts Tuesday and Wednesday will continue to be mostly sunny but with highs cooling off to 85 and 78 degrees, respectively, and nightly lows hovering just above the 50 mark.
As the week progresses, a slight fluctuation in temperature can be expected; Thursday's conditions moderate, promising a partly sunny day with a high nearing 72 degrees, offering a slight cool down from the earlier days of the week, and the nights will follow suit with partly cloudy conditions, and a low around 51 degrees, a pattern that soothes after the previous days' fever-pitch of warmth.
