A 33-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck in a hit-and-run incident in Harford County, and Maryland State Police are now searching for the driver responsible for this morning's tragedy. Details are currently limited as the victim's identity is being withheld until family members are notified, but it has been established that the individual was declared dead at the scene.
The Maryland State Police JFK Memorial Highway Barrack received a call at approximately 2:08 a.m., directing troopers to the site of the collision on the northbound lanes of I-95, just shy of the Riverside Parkway exit, where they found evidence of the grim event and the life taken without a witness to speak for it. A 2021-2024 model Jeep Grand Cherokee is believed to be the vehicle involved; its driver, having failed to stop after the impact, has vanished into the night.
According to information from Maryland's Official Government news site, investigators have pieced together a preliminary scenario in which the pedestrian was walking in the left lane of the interstate when the vehicle made contact. The Maryland State Police Crash Team has taken up the lead in the investigation to stitch together the events that led up to the fatality.
Any individual who may have been a witness to the crash or has any relevant information is urged to contact the Maryland State Police JFK Memorial Highway Barrack at 410-537-1150 or reach out directly to Senior Trooper Gregory Bunger at [email protected].
