Seattle made concrete strides toward a greener future during Energy Week 2025, which concluded yesterday. A key component was the Seattle 2030 District’s Energy Week program, held this week from Monday to Friday, focusing on energy efficiency, emission reduction, and renewable energy.

According to the City of Seattle government website, last Tuesday, the panel “Optimizing Efficient Electrification” took place at the Smart Buildings Center. Duane Jonlin of the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections, along with Seattle City Light staff, discussed the city's work to meet climate commitments. Topics included increasing public access to energy policy information, preparing the electrical grid for higher demand, and streamlining electric service connections. The panel addressed how electric-powered technologies can reduce emissions and support regional decarbonization.

On Thursday, a joint event with Puget Sound Energy explored energy savings and building comfort through technology. The Luminaire Level Lighting Controls (LLLC) Lunch and Learn focused on energy performance benefits of LLLC systems. Presenters Angela Pilant and Dan Kuhl from Evergreen Energy Partners shared case studies and tools for implementing LLLC, while Armando Berdiel of Seattle City Light outlined updated incentives and integration with HVAC controls to enhance energy efficiency.

Beyond panels and talks, Energy Week included webinars, building tours, and networking events to encourage collaboration on Seattle’s 2030 energy goals. Seattle City Light presented various programs and technical demonstrations, offering resources for improving energy efficiency and electrification.
