This summer, the Seattle Center Armory Food & Event Hall and Mural Amphitheatre will be transformed into a Polish enclave for a day. Polish Festival Seattle is set to celebrate Poland's rich culture and traditions on July 12, from noon to 7 p.m., welcoming everyone to dive into a day of folklore, food, and fun-themed around "Castles and Legends." Seattle Center Spotlight reports that this free, family-friendly event promises a lineup of activities including children's storytelling, live performances, and a peek at historic Polish castles.

Culture vultures can expect an eclectic mix of entertainment spanning traditional to modern. The festival’s roster features folk dance by Syrena Seattle and Sobótka dancers, the tunes of Vivat Musica! choir, and more. A special appearance by Zabavva band is also on the books, alongside soloists Daniel Conrad and Marcin Pączkowski, who will bring a contemporary edge to the cultural showcase. For foodies, there’ll be pączki, the beloved Polish doughnut, among a spread of authentic dishes provided by local Polish vendors such as Sebi’s Kitchen and Koło Pań/Polish Women’s Club.

According to Alisa Lahti, the Polish Festival Seattle executive director and producer, speaking to Seattle Center Spotlight, “As a community, we do the festival at the Seattle Center to create opportunities for people to learn, enjoy, and celebrate our rich culture and to raise awareness of Polish-American contributions to the local society.” Lahti notes the community's pride in its evolving traditions, and the event serves as a platform to share them with a broader audience.

The festival is not just about performance, it extends to education and commerce. Guests over 21 can visit the outdoor beer garden, sponsored by Browar Polska Inc., to taste Polish beer and vodka. The Seattle Center Armory will also host a Polish marketplace filled with amber jewelry, Polish crystal, and cookbooks, amongst other treasures. These offerings aim to spotlight the talent and craftsmanship within the Polish-American community, here in Seattle. Aiming to attract between 5,000 to 10,000 attendees, the event is put together by the Seattle Polish Foundation and supported by more than 200 volunteers.

Polish Festival Seattle is a significant fixture in the Festál calendar, a series of 25 free cultural festivals at Seattle Center. Each festival celebrates different heritages and identities, offering the Seattle community a chance to engage with diverse cultures. Festál and the Polish Festival Seattle exemplify the Seattle Center's mission to connect people through exceptional events and experiences that inspire community development.
